PLATFORM Lower Insurance Costs
Heading Underline Text

Rising property insurance costs is the biggest problem facing Florida right now.

To lower our property insurance bills, Representative Borrero supports embracing various policies, including:

  • Creation of an Insurance Fraud Task Force to help root out corruption and fraudulent claims that drive up the cost of insurance.
  • By lowering the cost of homes, we can lower the cost of homeowner’s insurance which can be accomplished by building more homes and lowering the costs of construction. Cheaper houses = lower costs of insurance.
  • Require independent estimates of home damages after a hurricane or storm to ensure insurance companies are paying the true value of the cost to repair.
  • Require Big Insurance companies and lawyers to review and respond to homeowner claims faster and more efficiently.

QUALITY EDUCATION

  • Supported parental rights in education and the largest expansion of school choice in Florida’s history. David voted for a voucher program that now provides $8,000 annually per child, for parents to take their children to the school that best meets their child’s needs.
  • Believes in protecting and strengthening public education in Florida, which is why Representative Borrero has repeatedly voted for record increases in public school funding, as well as an additional $2.5 billion for teacher pay raises.

PROSPEROUS ECONOMY

  • Voted for a record tax cut of $4.2 billion dollars, including permanent tax cuts on baby supplies like cribs, diapers and strollers.
  • Sponsored laws that would eliminate property taxes for low-income seniors.
  • Supported a $500 million dollar toll reimbursement program to reimburse Florida drivers who pay excess highway tolls.
  • Successfully sponsored and brought in millions in drainage infrastructure to combat flooding on South Florida streets.
  • Voted to extend healthcare benefits for an entire year for mothers after the birth of their child.

PROTECT OUR VALUES

  • Successfully sponsored legislation which now requires high school students to learn about the horrors and failures of communism.
  • A strong supporter of law enforcement and one who believes residents deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods, David voted to increase resources for our police officers and has worked with local elected officials to ensure public safety in our neighborhoods.
  • David understands the risks our children face online. He supported a law to create online protections for children from predatory social media companies that have made our children addicted to their dangerous sites.
  • A champion for religious freedom, David supported additional protections for churches, synagogues and religious organizations to keep their tax-exempt status and practice their faiths without intervention from the government.
